Seminole County and its partners remind residents that small choices on your lawn can help protect the water we all share. Local fertilizer rules are designed to reduce runoff and support healthy lakes, rivers and springs across our region. Take a rain check when heavy rain is in the forecast, keep fertilizer off pavement, and make sure you are using the right product for the season. Learn more at FertilizeFlorida.com.

FIREWORK SAFETY REMINDER: Start 2026 off on a safe note by remembering firework best practices. Every year, thousands of injuries are caused by unsafe fireworks use and improper disposal. Enjoy the celebration safely by following these fireworks disposal guidelines from the Seminole County Fire Department and the Seminole County Solid Waste Division: 🎆 Submerge spent, unused, or defective fireworks in water for a full 24 hours. 🎆 Once soaked, seal them in two plastic bags before throwing them away in the trash. Fireworks, including sparklers, are not toys. Children should never be allowed to light or handle them. If you choose to use fireworks, keep a bucket of water or a garden hose close by in case of emergencies. And when possible, leave the show to trained professionals. Wishing everyone a safe and joyful New Year’s Eve! ✨
