People who check on you without any reasons, just because they care. Attentiveness. Laughing at your jokes when no one else does. Wit. An open heart. People who make you feel safe. Not having to second guess whether they want you, because they show you. Communication. People who understand and don't just listen, and when it's difficult, they're still willing to. Remembering tiny details about someone. Someone who brings you light in your times of darkness. Someone who shows up for you. Someone who brings you a sense of ease. People who greet strangers and compliment them. People who treat workers with respect: waiters, cashiers, janitors, everyone. People who make you feel seen, even through oceans of people. People who just want you to be happy. Physical touch as a love language. Someone tracing their fingers along your jaw when you're asleep, or the sides of your face. Touching your skin like you're made of porcelain. Like you're everything valuable in this world. Like you're their world. Like you're everything.

Normalize taking care of men. Normalize holding and kissing them when they're sad and just because. Normalize doing nice things for them. Normalize genuinely listening to them when they're upset. The concept of _growing into love_ is so much more intriguing than falling in love. It’s like, on all our good days and bad days, I will choose to love you, I will learn with you, I will live my life with you and we will grow into and with each other through the passage of time.

Every relationship will get boring after a few years. This is because you pretty much know everything about the other person and there's very little mystery left. Most people think, we don't have that spark anymore or we don't feel those butterflies. What we need to understand is love is not a feeling. It's a commitment to choose a partner every single day, physically and emotionally. We need to normalize the fact that it is going to get difficult sometimes. It's not always the laughs, the smiles, and the fun that you see. And I think as a generation, we should stop romanticizing the Hollywood kind of love. And that's why people quit when it stops being fun and they go look for something else because the spark is gone, that's not how it works. If you want somebody to never give up on you and love you unconditionally, then you do the same. We all need to understand that when two people with different upbringings and different personalities come together, there are going to be differences and there are going to be fights. That's the truth, right? And if you ever hear a couple say that they don't fight at all, please know that they're lying. No matter how compatible they are, fights are bound to happen. That's why relationships are both difficult and beautiful. And all the efforts that you take to make it work is worth it.

If you love someone and they love you, a hard conversation should bring you closer, not push you apart. If you are scared to say what is real, you were never as close as you thought.
