With support from Government of Seychelles and Pew Charitable Trusts, SeyCCAT held a Blue Carbon Ecosystems event at the Seychelles pavilion at #Cop28. A keynote address was delivered by Seychelles' Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment Mr Flavien Joubert. In attendance also was SeyCCAT CEO Ms Marie-May Jeremie and Pew Charitable Trusts Director Mr Simon Reddy. The main objective of the event was to celebrate Seychelles' efforts in mapping the full extent of its seagrass meadows and to encourage ambition to other countries and partners in the region. #macce #pewtrusts #oxforduniversity #bluecarbon #seagrassmeadows instagram.com/p/C0bAYeNMU7o/…

The Western Indian Ocean is rich with partners/projects working on #bluecarbon ecosystems. On eve of #AfricaClimateSummit23 pleased, with @SeyCCAT @wiomsa @NCSecretariat & partners, to convene some of these experts to consider how we now scale action on these critical ecosystems

#Seychelles is a large archipelagic #ocean state, 60% of which are outer #coral atolls and islands. Most of our land and people are on the granitic inner islands, but our coral islands are home to much of our best #biodiversity and Aldabra Atoll, a @UNESCO world heritage site

Island Restoration Specialist, Paul provides insight into why restoring and rewilding coral atolls is more important now than ever. Read more at link in bio!
