As a councillor, I can call for Standing Orders to be suspended to discuss a serious matter, I tried to do this last night in @sdublincoco council meeting. I should have been allowed to have the issue seconded and then voted on by councillors to see if there was a majority wanting to discuss last week's protests and the government's response. As you can see from the video, the FF deputy mayor was having none of it. We can spend hours talking about Palestine and many other issues beyond the borders of this island. But not the turning of the country upside down last week. Finally, Cllr Edge claimed I was trying to get a motion heard, if that was the case, he would have been correct. However, I never mentioned a motion, I wanted a discussion. @independent_ire
