They didn't want to wait and see if Antonio Pierce would learn from his glaring mistakes. They're in a division with high-level head coaches. The Raiders' job may not be fit for an inexperienced candidate with the landscape of the AFC West. Tom Brady may be driving this point, having played against teams with those high-level head coaches. I'd still like them to take a chance on an upstart, offensive-minded candidate, but a retread hire (other than Mike Vrabel if he goes to New England) may be their approach.
