@Jude_Mugabi Jude, bundling URP, Ug Cup, Women’s, 7s, National teams, and then RAC, and now Enterprise under a single "Our partner", you say that's cool, right?

No. Football has leverage b'se of numbers. In early 2000s, Nile Special was the league sponsor when Villa-KCCA-Express opted for a parallel deal with Uganda Breweries which Nile protested & pulled out. You know the outcome when Kobs-Hippos-Warriors-Rhinos tried the same recently.

@Jude_Mugabi You set the foundation yourselves. It was the same case to football about 10 years ago.

In 🇺🇬 rugby, all pdts are bundled under 1/2 sponsors, yet funding isn’t elastic. In football, the Cranes, UPL, UgCup, women’s, etc. are treated as standalone products, each capable of attracting its own partners. They also have dedicated media officers and managers with clear KPIs

We can ban players for 90 days. But unless we fix the system, we’re only postponing the next scandal. UGX 300,000 salary. Four months unpaid. Then someone offers UGX 1 million, sometimes less, sometimes more to influence a game. Tell me, who is really at fault?

It's time for UNEB! Uganda's club rugby steps on the weighing scale of the Enterprise Cup. Shall we be declared underweight and ordered to scale down or will be big enough for a fight? monitor.co.ug/uganda/sports/…

I have attempted, unsuccessfully, to list all Ugandans who have played club rugby in Kenya. From as far back as the late 1990s to even this season, every generation has its names on the list. Please read through 🗞️ and help me add more names. nbssport.co.ug/2026/03/19/whi…

I recently spoke at the annual Financial Times Business of Football Summit, looking at whether the multi-club ownership model is viable. As always on such occasions, there is not enough time to discuss all the issues, so today’s article will look at this topic in more depth.

All English sides, except Arsenal and Liverpool, experimented or tried something unusual this week: City with two wingers and less midfielders than Real Madrid (corrected at HT), Newcastle without Gordon in line up, Spurs and Chelsea with goalkeepers (both to blame for goals). In England, the Premier League and Champions League are given equal billing (sometimes PL get more respect). In Spain, the Champions League is always the clear priority — and you can see it in the line-ups and the attitude. So here’s the question: if English clubs want to win the Champions League more often, do they actually need to treat it as more important than the Premier League, even if fans won't agree with the idea? I know you can't take big conclusions of a game, but as success for English sides in CL is not coming as regular as the financial dominance, I wonder.
