Just over 99 years ago, the Ryder Cup was born in Worcester, MA. Great Britain had already beaten the Americans twice in informal matches in 1921 and 1926, Samuel Ryder formalized the competition in 1927. In June, the first official Ryder Cup was held in at Worcester Country Club. Hagen captained the U.S. team. Ted Ray led Great Britain. Gene Sarazen, already a 3-time major winner, led the U.S. to a 9.5-2.5 victory. Nearly a century later, we’ll play a match of our own at Worcester 🧵
