Budget 2026 update: RA deduction cap increases from R350,000 → R430,000 Donations tax exemption increases from R100,000 → R150,000 👉Donation deductions still limited to 10% of taxable income.

🏡 Capital gains tax relief The primary residence exclusion increases from R2,000,000 → R3,000,000. The annual CGT exclusion increases from R40,000 → R50,000. 👉 Many homeowners will pay no CGT when selling their primary residence.

🥃 Alcohol & tobacco Excise duties increased by 3.4%. 👉 Drinking and smoking cost more

🚗 Fuel taxes Fuel levies increased: * Petrol +9c/litre * Diesel +8c/litre * RAF levy +7c/litre * Carbon tax +5c petrol / +6c diesel 👉 Fuel and transport costs will keep rising.

💼 VAT threshold VAT registration is now compulsory from R2.3 million turnover. 👉 Small businesses can grow bigger before dealing with VAT admin.

💰 Tax-free savings The Tax-Free Savings limit increased to R46,000 per year. 👉 You can invest more each year and pay zero tax on growth and withdrawals.

Tax-free thresholds: • Under 65: R99,000 • 65–74: R153,250 • 75+: R171,300 👉 More of your income is taxed at lower rates

New brackets: • 18% up to R245,100 • 26% up to R383,100 • 31% up to R530,200 • 36% up to R695,800 • 39% up to R887,000 • 41% up to R1,878,600 • 45% above that .
