@Steelers_DB I don’t understand why this hasn’t been the philosophy. The front office watched what happened when Ben’s athleticism evaporated and decided it’d be fine, effectively running the same system with Russ and Aaron.

I'll try to keep it brief but: The Steelers need to be able to run a modern offense and unfortunately, you can't do that w/ Rodgers bc eventually, the whole operation shrinks down to what he likes (quick game/iso ball from the gun). That's not where the league is. For the most part, the best offenses in football are able threaten all 3 levels of the field in the passing game, whether in drop-back, under center or via second-reaction plays. He hasn't been able to do that in a while and the personnel or play caller doesn't matter bc he isn't changing his play style. The new staff needs to bring in a signal caller that views football the same way they do. Preferably, that's someone younger with some semblance of upside. Even if they aren't the "franchise guy", we've seen plenty of random QBs recently have short-term success when it all comes together. Doesn't have to be reckless, but take a shot. If it works, great. If it doesn't, you'll probably be in a position to try again in the NFL Draft.

The #Steelers coaching job is attractive for one reason, the proven patience of the organization. The roster, quarterback, overpriced defense, and unrealistic expectations (no one would’ve won a playoff game with this team) make this among the least desirable of the openings.
