The honest answer with the famous caveat: yes if story is why you play, FFXIV's later expansions are some of the best storytelling in the genre, and the community is the friendliest in MMOs. The caveat: the opening stretch is long and slow, and it filters the impatient. Free trial covers an absurd amount of content, so the experiment costs nothing but time. If you make it through the early hours, you will likely be there for years. That is both the recommendation and the warning.
