In Al-Aqsa Mosque, tensions escalated as Israeli forces reportedly assaulted worshippers and fired tear gas near Bab Al-Sahira. For the first time since 1967, the mosque complex was closed at the end of Ramadan, preventing access to one of Islam’s holiest sites. Hundreds of worshippers were forced to offer Eid prayers outside the Old City as Israeli police barricaded entrances.

In Gaza, Eid al-Fitr is being marked under severe hardship as shortages of food, fuel, and essential goods continue to worsen. Residents say rising prices and limited aid have made even basic necessities difficult to afford, turning the festival into a time of anxiety rather than celebration. The crisis is being linked to ongoing conflict, tightened restrictions, and local market exploitation, with many families unable to observe Eid traditions. Amid the difficulties, the sound of Eid takbeerat echoes across Gaza.

A major gas facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar, suffered heavy damage after an Iranian missile strike during escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf. The complex hosts the world’s largest LNG export plant, which previously supplied about one-fifth of global liquefied natural gas. Following the attack, energy facilities in the region shut down, and gas prices in Europe surged by more than 30%. Global markets reacted sharply, with oil prices rising and the Dow Jones Industrial Average recording its lowest close of 2026 so far.
