Not only does @avilewis completely disregard the thousands upon thousands of tradeswomen working on projects that keep our country strong, he blatantly discriminates against construction workers. Tradesmen show up every damn day, in the cold of winter and in the heat of summer to build the country you take for granted. The roads you drive on, the transit you rely on, the power that lights your home, none of it exists without them. They are sons, fathers, brothers. They are proud, skilled workers who show up with integrity and respect for the tradeswomen they work alongside and the women across our communities. Your comments aren’t just ignorant, they are disgraceful. You owe Canada’s tradesmen an apology. As I’ve clearly stated time and time again, the NDP stopped being a worker’s party a long time ago. They abandoned blue-collar workers for ideological theatrics that halt progress, divide communities, and insult the very people who keep this country running. The self imploding embarrassment that is the @NDP continues. Absolute shame.

I should have voted for Avi. He epitomizes exactly what a leader of today's NDP should be, exactly what it's become. It was never perfect but it's gotten very bad. It's an NDP that hates blue collar workers. We need a better left wing party in the future. I hope the NDP dies.

A few years ago, a friend was told eight months for an MRI for a non-emergency that was causing them a lot of pain/quality of life issues. Out of curiosity, I googled MRI clinics in Buffalo and called the first hit. Asked when they could take an appointment.

Why does Canada have the longest MRI wait times in the developed world? The Ontario health ministry has a central licensing department for all imaging. In 2024 less than 30 licenses were given out. I know imaging centres that have machines collecting dust for years waiting to be licensed. This is a classic Soviet style artificial supply constraint created by bureaucracy. Meanwhile Canadians are driving to Buffalo or overseas for private MRIs.

@mattgurney I had cancer progress stages due to similar delays with imaging a number of years ago. I still ended up waiting 3 months for a Canadian private clinic (which ironically I have advocated against). Something needs to change.

I told them same day wasn't feasible as the person would be driving down from Toronto, and they offered me a bunch of spots the next morning. You could pick your 15 minute window.
Long delays for imaging is absolutely fucking insane.
