@Rightanglenews If this policy was in place for 2024 those electoral votes from Virginia would've gone to Trump instead of Harris. So do Democrats REALLY wanna play that game?

Birds can literally see the Earth’s magnetic field thanks to specialized light-sensitive proteins in their eyes. Migratory birds possess one of nature’s most remarkable superpowers: the ability to navigate thousands of miles with incredible precision. At the center of this ability is a protein called Cry4 (cryptochrome 4), found in the retinas of their eyes. When blue light enters the bird’s eye, it triggers a quantum reaction in the Cry4 proteins known as the radical pair mechanism. This ultra-sensitive process responds to the orientation and strength of the Earth’s magnetic field, essentially turning the bird’s visual system into a biological compass. Scientists believe birds don’t just sense magnetism — they may actually see it. The quantum fluctuations likely appear as subtle visual patterns, shadows, or color gradients overlaid on their normal vision, much like an augmented reality heads-up display. This extraordinary adaptation allows migratory birds to cross oceans, deserts, and mountain ranges with pinpoint accuracy, relying on the strange rules of quantum mechanics to guide them on their epic journeys.

A cremation funeral held for a tiger. The tiger was known by locals as "Collarwali" due to being fitted with a radio collar to help researchers further study her. She had given birth to 29 cubs throughout her life in 8 litters. She lived in the Pench Tiger Reserve and died at the age of 16.

The Bubble Nebula. Located about 7,000 light-years away in Cassiopeia, NGC 7635 nebula is shaped by a massive, hot star at its center. Its powerful stellar winds push outward, creating that distinct spherical shell against a dense field of glowing hydrogen. What makes it especially interesting is the contrast—the sharp, defined “bubble” set within a much larger, chaotic nebula filled with clumps, filaments, and ongoing star formation. Captured by Travis (@traviscondit) from Bortle 8/9 Houston, this image highlights both the structure of the bubble and the surrounding region with over 8 hours of total exposure. 📸 99 x 300" @ ISO 2000 (8h 15m total) 🔭 Celestron C8 @ f/6.3 🛰️ Advanced VX Mount 🎯 StarSense Autoguider

Mark your calendars — something extraordinary is coming in exactly 3 years. On Friday, April 13, 2029, the massive asteroid Apophis (also known as 99942 Apophis) will make one of the closest approaches to Earth ever recorded for an object of its size. Measuring roughly 1,230 feet (375 meters) across, it will fly past our planet at a distance of just 20,000 miles (32,000 km) — closer than many geostationary satellites. For people across Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia, Apophis will be visible to the naked eye as a bright, fast-moving “star” gliding across the night sky. When it was first discovered in 2004, Apophis briefly caused alarm due to a small chance of impact. Those risks have since been completely ruled out. However, its 2029 flyby remains a rare scientific opportunity. Scientists expect Earth’s gravity to slightly alter the asteroid during the close pass — potentially triggering surface landslides and changing its rotation. Such events occur only once every few thousand years. For one unforgettable night, we will get a front-row seat to watch a 375-meter relic from the early solar system sweep past our planet in real time.

Scientists have identified strong evidence for a vast quantity of water located roughly 400 miles (about 660 kilometers) beneath Earth’s surface, within the planet’s mantle. This water is not present as underground lakes or flowing reservoirs. Instead, it is chemically bound within a high-pressure mineral called ringwoodite. Ringwoodite, which forms under extreme temperatures and pressures in the mantle’s transition zone, can incorporate hydrogen and oxygen into its crystal structure. In effect, the mineral acts as a storage medium for water at the molecular level. Laboratory experiments have long shown this capability, but seismic data have now provided compelling real-world confirmation. By analyzing how earthquake waves travel through deep Earth, researchers detected patterns consistent with water-rich ringwoodite. These subtle changes in wave speed suggest that significant amounts of water may be locked within mantle rock. Estimates indicate that, if distributed throughout the transition zone globally, the total quantity could rival or exceed the volume of water in Earth’s oceans, though it is dispersed within minerals, not pooled as liquid. This discovery expands scientific understanding of the deep water cycle. Rather than existing only at the surface and in shallow groundwater systems, water appears to circulate between the oceans and the mantle over geologic timescales through processes such as subduction and volcanism. The presence of water at these depths may influence mantle dynamics, volcanic activity, and plate tectonics. It also offers insight into how Earth has maintained its surface oceans for billions of years. Far from being a simple blue planet with water confined to its surface, Earth may be quietly cycling vast quantities of H₂O deep within its interior, hidden inside minerals forged under crushing pressure. This hidden reservoir doesn’t shimmer under sunlight or crash against shorelines, yet it may be just as vital to the planet’s long-term stability. By revealing water locked hundreds of miles below our feet, the discovery reshapes our understanding of how Earth works suggesting that the oceans we know may be only part of a much larger, far deeper planetary system.
