Each sound stage is designed as a completely soundproof black box. Thick concrete walls and advanced sound-absorbing materials ensure total silence and prevent any noise from bleeding between stages or from outside sources such as the nearby SkyTrain, highways, or passing aircraft. The floors are perfectly flat for smooth camera movement, and the roof structures are built to support heavy lighting and equipment loads. Advanced lighting rigs, catwalks, and director-controlled systems give crews precise control during shoots.
In addition to the sound stages, the complex includes more than 300,000 square feet of support space dedicated to mill shops, wardrobe departments, prop storage, set decoration, and construction areas. Over 100,000 square feet of production offices are spread across seven buildings. The site also offers extensive parking, including an underground parkade with space for more than 1,000 vehicles and 200 electric vehicle chargers, along with dedicated trailer parking and wide, accessible corridors throughout the campus. The entire facility is designed to comfortably support up to 5,000 workers on any given day.
Sustainability was a key focus during development. The studio operates entirely on renewable electricity from BC Hydro and uses energy-efficient heat-pump systems for heating and cooling. It features a large green roof to help manage stormwater and reduce heat buildup, along with strong recycling and composting programs. A portion of the site protects a local salmon-bearing stream with natural buffers and erosion controls. These green features align with the growing emphasis on environmentally responsible film production.
The location offers excellent accessibility, located just steps from the Lake City Way SkyTrain station on the Millennium Line. This makes it only about 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver and roughly 30 to 40 minutes from Vancouver International Airport. The transit-friendly design helps reduce reliance on cars while still supporting the heavy logistics required for film equipment and set materials.
British Columbia has built a strong reputation as a top destination for international film and television production thanks to its diverse landscapes, experienced crews, competitive tax incentives, and existing studio infrastructure.
