@BenRosher Another consequence I see is that the students we admit tend to have quite a lot research experience in addition to MSc bc they more likely to present advanced project proposal and are already trained!

UK doctoral training programmes now expect PhD researchers to submit within 3 years *and* spend 3 months of that on a placement. UKHE needs to touch a lot of grass.

Did you know that an artificial neural network is designed to mimic the brain? Inspired by biological neurons in the brain, artificial neural networks are large collections of “neurons”, or nodes, connected by “synapses”, or weighted couplings, which are trained to perform certain tasks. An artificial neural network processes information using its entire network structure. The inspiration initially came from the desire to understand how the brain works.
