Message to University Student athletes & Staff members Participating in Comrades Marathon 2026 On behalf of University Sport South Africa, I extend my full support and pride to every university student athlete and staff member lining up for the 2026 Comrades Marathon. Comrades is more than a race, it is a test of endurance, discipline and heart, qualities we value and develop in university sport every day. When you pull on your university and club colours on race day, you carry the pride of your institution, club and the spirit of university sport with you every kilometre from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. Run with courage, run with respect for one another, and run safely. Remember that you are representing not only yourselves, but the future of university and club athletics in South Africa. Whether you are chasing a personal best, a Bill Rowan medal, running for charity, or simply running to the finish line, your participation inspires the next generation of student-athletes and staff members at universities. Go well, stay strong, and make all the universities and clubs you represent proud. We’ll be cheering for you all the way to the finish.
