CATCH UP ON CURATE 🐂 Looming thunderstorms today remind us of Walker Babington's exhibit at the @hermitagemuseum last year, "Burden of the Beast." The bison is a resilient animal who often weather any storms, including near extinction. Babington pulls inspiration from these and other environmental factors for his monumental dreamscapes created from storm ravaged wood and reclaimed metal. His folk-symbolist sculptures confront challenging subjects like climate change and AI with wit, nostalgia, and grit—inviting us to face the storm head-on and consider how we shape the future. WATCH on Facebook and YouTube channels to catch digital segments of Curate -- new features drop EVERY Thursdays at 7:57pm 📺 Stream past broadcasts of Curate any time on our WHRO+ app whro.org/curate

Recently, WHRO was selected as the corporate honoree for the 2025 Darden Awards This is a prestigious honor conveyed by the Civic Leadership Institute -- the annual Darden Awards welcomes over 550 regional executives and community leaders to celebrate the honorees’ contributions to regional leadership. “For more than 60 years, WHRO has helped our community feel smarter and happier through the power of nonprofit media which makes them the natural next choice for the Corporate Darden Award,” said Dr. Mary Kate Andris, President and CEO, of CIVIC Leadership Institute. Each year an individual and a corporation from the Hampton Roads region is selected to receive the award. Those honored have delivered extraordinary service on boards, commissions and as community volunteers. They worked to create sustainable efforts toward the betterment of life for the people of the Hampton Roads Region and demonstrate exceptional leadership in the pursuit of regional cooperation. youtu.be/9H_4S-YHOOk
