A Pakistani federal court decided this week to give custody of a 13-year-old Christian girl to a Muslim man who kidnapped, forcibly converted, raped and married her in August. Maria Shahbaz’s parents were devastated at the ruling Tuesday, after the two-judge bench of the newly constituted Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) rejected her official birth record and disregarded earlier judicial findings that the marriage was illegal. The ruling came in an atmosphere of intimidation as 150 male friends and family members of the rapist had arrived to the court to support him.  Justice Karim Khan Agha and Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi accepted Maria’s statement, which her parents and their attorney say was given under coercion, that she had converted to Islam and married 30-year-old Shehryar Ahmad of her own free will. “We were hopeful that the court would consider the girl’s official birth document (B-Form) and the sessions court order confirming that the accused had contracted an illegal marriage with a minor,” her parent’s lawyer stated. He also said the court had failed to consider that the girl had remained in the custody of the suspect for more than six months, increasing the probability of coercion. “The judges should have taken into account that she was likely to give a statement in the accused’s favor under duress,” he said. “It is deeply disappointing that the court did not provide a safe and conducive environment for recording her testimony.” The girl’s father said said his neighbor Ahmad had abducted his daughter when she stepped outside their home to go to a nearby shop. Human rights advocates say such cases follow a recurring pattern in Pakistan, where girls, some as young as 10, are abducted, forcibly converted and sexually abused under the cover of Islamic “marriages.” Victims are often pressured to record statements favoring their abductors, while courts frequently disregard documentary evidence of age and return the children to their alleged kidnappers as “legal wives.” In Punjab, Maria’s home state, the legal minimum age of marriage for girls is 16. At the national level, the Christian Marriage (Amendment) Act 2024 raised the marriageable age to 18 for Christians; however, if Christian girls convert to Islam, they are treated as Muslims under Sharia, which allows marriage at a younger age.

Waarom het heersende Israël-narratief wankelt Machthebbers in het Midden-Oosten die hun onderdanen op een walgelijke manier hebben onderdrukt, uitgebuit en van hun vrijheid hebben beroofd, zijn altijd de grootste vijanden van Israël geweest. Hamas heeft van Gaza een door de jihad geobsedeerde hel gemaakt. Hezbollah heeft van het vroegere christelijke, vrije en welvarende Libanon een failed state gemaakt. Assad werd gesteund door Iran en heeft minstens een half miljoen van zijn eigen bevolking vermoord. De islamitische mullahs van Iran hebben de afgelopen bijna 47 jaar de bevolking van alle vrijheid beroofd, vrouwen hun rechten ontnomen en het land naar de afgrond geleid. Maar wacht even, er klopt ergens iets niet. In Europa hebben we sinds 7 oktober 2023 alleen maar steeds meer kritiek op Israël zien groeien. Israël is toch de reden van alle geweld en onrecht in het Midden-Oosten? Israël is toch de grote agressor, de westerse kolonialistische macht? Israël is toch het voorbeeld van die vreselijke witte supremacy, een racistische staat die de inheemse bevolking onderdrukt? Maar nu zien we ineens, in The Islamic Republic of Iran, het meest islamistische land ter wereld, het meest terrorisme exporterende land in het Midden-Oosten en de wereld, dat de bevolking het helemaal zat is vanwege al de onvrijheid, onderdrukking en alle onschuldige doden, en dat ze niet alleen met de vroegere (echte) vlag van Iran wapperen, maar ook met die van Israël! Wat er in Iran gebeurt doet het heersende narratief over Israël in het Westen wankelen. De doorgeslagen woke-ideologie en het simplistische plaatje van de witte onderdrukker tegenover het gekleurde slachtoffer, het doorgeslagen antiracisme en antikolonialisme in het Westen, doet velen in Europa de situatie in het Midden-Oosten niet begrijpen. Het blijkt nu dat de grootste vijanden van Israël de grootste schenders van fundamentele mensenrechten zijn, dat de vijanden van Israël de vijanden van de mensheid zijn, dat Israël al vanaf 1948 strijdt tegen de vijanden van iedereen in het Midden-Oosten en de wereld. Maar dat past niet in het heersende narratief over Israël. Daarom pas de laatste dagen enige aandacht van de NOS voor de opstand in Iran, en dan nog wikkend en wegend en twijfelend. Daarom horen we velen die zo hartstochtelijk meenden te moeten opkomen voor de rechten van ‘de Palestijnen’ nú helemaal niet opkomen voor de rechten van de Iraniërs. Waar zijn alle rode-lijners nu? Waarom geen sit-ins in stations of demonstraties op universiteiten in het belang van 92 miljoen inwoners die al 47 jaar onderdrukt worden door terroristische islamitische tirannen en sharia-wetgeving? Waarom waren de Iraanse demonstranten gisteren in Den Haag bijna alleen? Omdat de waarheid over wie de agressor is in het Midden-Oosten tot velen nog niet is doorgedrongen.

They are promised eternal rewards, sexual pleasure, and VIP status in heaven simply for dying in the name of Allah. 4.The Caliphate: Islam teaches that the caliphate is the ideal political system. As a result, many Muslims focus on restoring a caliphate and expanding it beyond their borders instead of improving their own nations or developing functional modern political systems. 5.Applying Sharia Law: There is a push to re-implement a 7th-century legal system involving amputations, stoning, and lashing—punishments that are barbaric and incompatible with modern societies. 6.Glorifying the First Generation: The belief that the first Islamic generation was the best has caused Muslims to constantly look backward rather than forward, discouraging progress, innovation, and reform. 7.“Promoting Virtue and Preventing Vice”: This idea has produced societies that intimidate women and interfere in personal choices. It encourages enforcing dress codes, physical intimidation, and collective policing of behavior, turning society itself into an authoritarian force. 8.Dividing the World into Muslims and Kafirs: This worldview creates two social classes and fosters hatred toward non-Muslims, who are seen as inferior and perpetual enemies. 9.Hostility Toward Non-Muslims: Islam teaches Muslims not to form close friendships with non-Muslims—especially Jews and Christians. This has prevented integration into Western societies and has led to the mistreatment of minorities in Muslim-majority countries. 10.Memorization of the Qur’an: Enormous resources are spent forcing children and adults to memorize the entire Qur’an. This often adds no practical value to society and reduces education to rote repetition, turning children into parrots rather than critical thinkers.
