Thank you for giving up comfort, privacy, peace, and the life you had built to sit in the hardest seat on earth and fight for this country. You did not have to do any of this. You already had the money, the success, the properties, the lifestyle, and the freedom. You could have walked away. Instead, you chose sacrifice. You chose responsibility. You chose America. My brother and I were on the same ship 80-84. We were stationed aboard a DDG. Stopped for port visit in Pattaya Beach Thailand. When the aircraft carrier arrived the next day prices doubled. The carrier had a bus that would take their Sailors to Bangkok. We got on the bus and signed our names as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Partied for 24 hours, spent all our money and had no way back to the ship. Somehow found the Embassy and a Marine Sergeant felt sorry for us and gave us a ride back to the ship.
