#ICYMI last week marked 200 years since the naming of the very first dino to be scientifically described - Megalosaurus! This dino would have likely roamed in Yorkshire, and you can see bones loaned from @morethanadodo, one with Mary Morland's handwriting on it, @YorkshireMuseum!

Today's the big day! Happy Birthday Megalosaurus! You might be 200 years old today but you don't look a day over 166 million years! Read all about the first dinosaur and its Yorkshire relatives in our blog! fossilsinthills.weebly.com/blogs #Megalosaurus200

When you think of trace fossils, you might think of footprints or burrows... but these fossilised behaviour clues can be many different shapes! What sort of animal do you think might have made these tracks and what was it doing? Feeding? Shuffling along the seabed? #fossilfriday

Middridge Quarry in County Durham is famous for its beautiful Permian aged fossil fish! Thirteen species of fish have been found here, showing a range of sizes and body shapes. This specimen of Pygopteris is one the largest we have seen so far! #FossilFriday

Today I had a fantastic time leading a fossil walk for a women's support group as part of @yorkshiremuseum's Mary Anning exhibit! Providing fossil hunting opportunities for people who don't normally have them is a brilliant way to honour her legacy!
