@ahmedallibhoy I mean, replace the integral sign with 1/s and this is just a Laplace transform derivation. Sure, that adds a couple of more assumptions to ensure convergence but the algebra is the same.

Interestingly, this not a flawed proof that only yields the correct result by coincidence. It turns out the method can be rigorously justified and generalized to other ODEs.
I'll discuss how and also some interesting applications of this approach in systems and control theory.

@MITMath @pastramimachine Dr Strang gave one of the most interesting invited talks. He filled up most of the left board with the beginnings of a proof, then on the right board worked backwards from the proposition, then finished his talk with 20 minutes left saying “Here’s where I’m stuck”
