The Supreme Court said this in 2014. In dowry harassment cases police must not arrest immediately on the day of complaint. A notice must be sent first. An inquiry must be conducted. That judgment was Arnesh Kumar vs State of Bihar. 12 years later UP DGP Rajiv Krishna had to issue the same order again last week. Because police were still arresting husbands and their families on the day of complaint. No evidence. No inquiry. Arrest first. Investigate later. A Supreme Court judgment ignored for 12 years. A DGP had to repeat it as an order. This is the state of men’s rights in India.
