The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Directorate, has held a strategic workshop to review progress and identify priority actions to strengthen Ghana’s TVET sector. The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the European Union, the German Embassy, GIZ, and relevant sector agencies.
Discussions highlighted reforms such as the rollout of a green, competency based curriculum, with some institutions already integrating practical activities like recycling and environmentally sustainable production methods.
Participants further identified gaps in coordination, data tracking, and public perception of TVET, noting that some institutions face overlapping directives while reliable data on graduate outcomes remains limited. Key priorities outlined included aligning training with labour market needs, improving institutional leadership, and placing greater emphasis on implementation.
Speaking at the workshop, Technical Advisor at the Ministry, Prof. George Oduro, stressed the need for sustained capacity building and stronger collaboration to ensure that reforms translate into real outcomes for learners and the industry.

Since 2013, The Ghana Airports Company Limited has implemented bold plans to modernise the Accra International Airport and develop Regional Airports.
This led to the construction of the 5-million-passenger-a- year Terminal 3 and the expansion and refurbishment of the arrival hall in Terminal 2.
In addition to the construction of a concourse to link Terminals 2 and 3, which is set to begin shortly, work had begun in late 2024 to further expand the arrival hall in Terminal 2.
In 2025, the scope of works was expanded to include the departure hall which had not seen any renovation for over 20 years, and the entire frontage of Terminal 2 to give it a new look.
This has now become a much wider scope to comprehensively address moving not only regional airlines but some international airlines from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 for decongestion during peak travel hours when passenger volumes are quite high resulting in long queues.
Accordingly the works for Terminal 2 is ongoing and are scheduled to be completed within this year.
This what Terminal 2 will look like when work is completed.
