The fact that young people talk about nuclear power and never, ever, EVER mention the nuclear waste that is buried all over USA in storage sites that will remain radioactive basically forever and aren’t secured or really “safe”
vivian@vivian39_

nuclear energy is sitting right there. just sitting there. producing massive amounts of clean reliable power with a safety record better than literally every other energy source per kwh. and we're out here arguing about whether to put a solar panel on a parking garage. okay

Aging is a biological problem. And problems aren't to be worshipped: they're to be solved. That's all.

@altmoral @MarcosArrut No way is obsolescence a selling point! It's like wanting to buy a car that is guaranteed to breakdown after 5 years because you want to make room for newer models. Who the hell would buy a car like that? Dying of the aging process is a terrible curse and it should be optional.

@altmoral In a few years I will be 30 and I never wanted my grandparents/dad or mom to die. You have no right to say such things. Aging is the greatest humanitarian problem of civilization.

A Utah copper mine is coming back online with advanced tech. Domestic production of critical minerals in rural Utah means greater economic strength and a safer nation. This is how we build what America needs, right here at home. 🇺🇸 More here: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

They say 80 years is "enough." In the hospital, days from death, no one says that. No one wants to die. Rejecting longevity in public and begging for it in private is hypocrisy. That's all.

@MarcosArrut I’ve never understood why people are fascinated with living extended lives. I mean seriously, 80 I’m good with. Do people really want to be on this planet that bad? It’s so bizarre.

A LEFTIST vents over paying $3.89 for gas, blaming Trump and his voters. But when prices hit $5.03 under Biden in 2022, there was no outrage. Selective outrage.

@altmoral My brain is quite capable of rationalising the observations my eyes are making. Right now they are showing a short contrail from a plane at 32,000ft, and no contrail from a plane at 25,000 feet. Later on this afternoon I'll start to see long contrails as the humidity rises.

20 million views now. 20 million views for a clickbait article based on nonsense, inspired by a single tweet that only got 66,000 views in the first place. How can anyone hope to combat this level of misinformation?

California squirrels are eating rodents in broad daylight. In California’s Briones Regional Park, researchers observed a startling new behavior: California ground squirrels, typically known for eating nuts and seeds, are now hunting, killing, and consuming voles, a smaller rodent species in their habitat. A study in the Journal of Ethology documented 74 squirrel-vole interactions, with 42% involving squirrels stalking, pouncing on, and eating voles. This behavior, observed almost daily, marks the first recorded instance of widespread carnivory in this species. While squirrels have occasionally eaten insects or bird eggs, actively hunting warm-blooded prey is unprecedented. Student-recorded videos show squirrels chasing voles, restraining them with forepaws, biting their necks, and consuming their flesh or organs. The behavior may stem from a vole population surge—nearly seven times the state’s ten-year average—prompting squirrels to exploit this abundant protein source. Squirrels of all ages and sexes participated, suggesting a potential lasting adaptation. It’s unclear if this carnivorous trend will continue once vole numbers normalize, but the discovery reveals the surprising adaptability of even well-known animals. @Rainmaker1973 We should genetically engineer them to hunt rats and other pests and keep away from human habitation. Later, also to obey human commands. Perhaps this project is already under way, but is being conducted in secret to delay criticism from Green anthropomorphists.
