Rubio is visiting Fico and Orban, who aren’t ideologically aligned but are the most anti-Ukraine, pro-Russia leaders. There is no diplomatic or geopolitical reasoning for the White House to prioritize their success unless directed to do so by the Kremlin. 2/2

In Ukraine, severe, new attacks aimed at energy infrastructure as the cold weather grows harsher are taking a heavy toll on the civilian population. I pray for those who suffer and renew my appeal for an end to the violence and for renewed efforts to achieve peace. #PrayTogether

If there is a hidden deal between Trump and Putin it would be for this, destroying NATO by attacking a fellow NATO nation. Venezuela isn’t Putin‘s to give, just like Ukraine isn’t Trump‘s to give. But demolishing NATO and leaving Eastern Europe vulnerable is in reach.
Hans Redder@hansersej

“I want to make it clear that if the United States chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then everything will come to an end. Including our NATO and thus the security that has been provided since the end of World War II.” - Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen in an interview with TV 2 on monday nyheder.tv2.dk/live/2025-01-0…

Good old Kyiv just today. It's been veeeeeery long time since we had such a beautiful and snowy New Year's Eve. Just like it used to be when we were kids.

Let me guess: on New Year’s Eve, the Russians will be striking empty government buildings in Kyiv — the Cabinet of Ministers, the parliament, Zelensky’s office on Bankova Street — and on top of that they’ll probably bring down a couple of apartment blocks in Kyiv or Dnipro, and then frantically boast about yet another great victory of Russian firepower.

This is how supposedly ironclad "security guarantees for Ukraine" would fall apart: one russian false-flag operation — or just a lie (why even bother staging anything in this beautiful post-truth world?) — and they're gone.

Having lived under Putin’s missiles & drones, it’s impossible to understand how Trump falls for this. There is one aggressor, Russia, which started the biggest & deadliest war in Europe since WWII. To end the war, the U.S. needs to do one thing: turn up the pressure on Russia.

2025 will be remembered as the year when, for the first time, an attacked country seeking to end a war was compelled to negotiate not with its enemy, but with its own partners

For the last poor fools who thought, "This time will be different, Trump can't keep getting his marching orders from Putin forever". He’s not changing, so this is on the GOP.

The last time Zelensky visited the US, Putin scheduled a call with Trump the day before. It helped turn what Ukraine thought would be a triumphant summit into a disaster. Now, ahead of Zelensky's meeting with Trump in Miami today, Putin has repeated the trick...

Steve Witkoff sitting across from the Ukrainians in Miami: Unshaven and scruffy. Serious, avoiding eye contact and unsmiling. Steve Witkoff sitting across from Putin: Grinning with teeth, clean shaven, attentive. He says he had a "beautiful walk" through Moscow, which he told Putin is "a magnificent city."

I served as our Ambassador in Ukraine for 3 years under Putin’s missiles and drones but resigned when Trump kept appeasing Putin. America does not bow to dictators. It’s not who we are. Here's why this Trump-Putin so-called "peace plan" is a disaster:
