44 Days of Hell: The Horrific End of Junko Furuta
When Junko Furuta celebrated her birthday on the 22nd of November 1988, neither her nor anyone else knew that would be her last birthday— neither her nor her family knew her life was going to end in the most horrible way.
3 days after her birthday, Junko was walking home from school when she was kidnapped by some guys. She had no relationship whatsoever with the guys and she doesn't even know them. They just kidnapped her because they wanted to and feel they could do so and go unpunished.
After kidnapping her, Junko was forced to call her parents and tell them that she had run away from home and won't be coming back forever.
After the call came the beginning of a 44-day hell.
•In the den of the kidnappers, here is a short version of what she went through in 44 days:
•They f.ed her only cock.roaches to eat, and only her own urine to drink.
•They c.ut. her nip..ple with pliers.
•Foreign objects were ins:erted into her v;agi n.a/anu.s including a still lit light-bulb, broken bottles, cigarettes, fireworks.
• They ra.pe:d and so.do.mize?d her every day. She’s estimated to have gone through approx. 500 r.ap;es because her captors were members of the Japanese Yakuza cult.
•They dropped dumbbells on her stomach while she lay on the floor with hands and feet bound, and that cause her to lose bowel control.
•She was hung from the ceiling and used as boxing bag.
•They beat her with iron barbells.
•They set her legs, arms, face and stomach on fire, let it burn for some minutes and then put out the fire.
•On the 44th day, Junko begged her captors to kill her. They promised to release her if she wins in a Mah-jongg game.
How can she win when has been severely and mercilessly tortured for 44 days?
Junko lost. Then they used her loss as another reason to torture her. Four boys beat her and mutilated her body with an iron barbell. Junko bled to death two hours later.
They put her corpse in a drum and then filled the drum with cement.
When Junko's mother heard the news and details of what happened to her daughter, she fainted, and had to undergo a psychiatric outpatient treatment when she woke up.
Three of the boys' identities were sealed by the court because of their age, even though they were tried as adults. They pled guilty to a reduced charge of “committing bodily injury that resulted in death”, instead of the original charge of murder. Jo Kamisaku, the 4th boy, was released in August 1999.
