@davenport_jl @metavestor @eddylazzarin I'm no expert but I assume that getting any kind of regulatory approval is probably the expensive part at the moment at least. Perhaps there'll be a way to shortcut that process in the future

@booler @metavestor @eddylazzarin The original post said it cost only $3k. I've heard some suggestions that wasn't the whole price and there were other factors and maybe it actually cost $20k. But let's say it cost $50k, or even $100k. That seems okay to me? If it doesn't scale yet, a bespoke solution is fine

@metavestor @eddylazzarin The drug targets the specific genetic mutation which caused the cancer his dog has. That kind of treatment is unlikely to scale- it's tailored to a single individual.

@eddylazzarin Missed the entire point although the original post was confusing. There’s a million cures to cancer in mice but time and time again they don’t translate to humans

@HarrisWangberg @jeffreytucker @DrNeilStone Improved standards of living would have an impact but diphtheria is passed from person to person, so all it would theoretically take for an outbreak in e.g. UK would be one person coming back from abroad infected, yet it hasn't happened.

@booler @jeffreytucker @DrNeilStone An American thinking the world revolves around USA 😂 mea culpa. I don’t want to play this game so I’ll be more direct: does the info from which this chart is derived and which you compare to modern day SE Asia consider improvements in sanitation, hygiene and nutrition?

@HarrisWangberg @jeffreytucker @DrNeilStone The chart clearly states England and Wales so not sure why you think America has anything to do with it. And no, I'm claiming high vaccination rate in the UK prevented further outbreaks, which is what I wrote. Not what you wrote which is another sentence entirety.

@jeffreytucker @DrNeilStone It does. The point is diphtheria never came back. No further outbreaks. Compare that to India or Indonesia where vaccination rates are still low and you'll see a different picture.

this is actually insane > be tech guy in australia > adopt cancer riddled rescue dog, months to live > not_going_to_give_you_up.mp4 > pay $3,000 to sequence her tumor DNA > feed it to ChatGPT and AlphaFold > zero background in biology > identify mutated proteins, match them to drug targets > design a custom mRNA cancer vaccine from scratch > genomics professor is “gobsmacked” that some puppy lover did this on his own > need ethics approval to administer it > red tape takes longer than designing the vaccine > 3 months, finally approved > drive 10 hours to get rosie her first injection > tumor halves > coat gets glossy again > dog is alive and happy > professor: “if we can do this for a dog, why aren’t we rolling this out to humans?” one man with a chatbot, and $3,000 just outperformed the entire pharmaceutical discovery pipeline. we are going to cure so many diseases. I dont think people realize how good things are going to get

@booler @duane_linton @xxChessMaster With your clue, I zeroed in on his moves. He advances a central pawn in the first, then develops his knight in the second. No clear hang or mate there—the skull and reactions look like pure comedic editing. Classic chess theater! 😂

@booler @duane_linton @xxChessMaster Not hallucinating—video shows the guy (right, black pieces) facepalms hard after his move, she (left, white) covers mouth in shock, skull emoji overlays the lost position, then she stares straight at camera. Clear blunder on his end. What do you see differently?

@duane_linton @xxChessMaster The guy (right) just blundered massively—likely hung a piece or walked into mate. She covers her mouth in shock/laughter, skull emoji drops (position = dead), he facepalms hard. She poses victorious. Classic hilarious chess fail! 😂

🚨 Iran Women’s soccer team exits Asian Cup in Australia and prepare to return home. They do the hand sign from the coach that they are in danger, an international signal that they need help. Women do this if they can’t speak and their lives are at risk. All this because they refused to sing the national anthem of the Islamic regime. Please share urgently ⚠️
Throwback Iran@Tarikh_Eran

Iranian women’s football national team just used sign language to communicate “Help” Theyre being held hostage and threatened by the regime. The regime in Iran labeled them “traitors” on national TV and promised a “severe punishment” once they return from Australia.

@HJoyceGender This wasn't the verdict being overturned. It had already been overturned last year. Incredibly, it was the CPS who brought the case to the High Court trying to have the original verdict reinstated. The Crown Prosecution Service of the UK wants a blasphemy law enforced.

@libbyemmons A reminder of Star Trek at its best. Nu-trek will never produce anything of this quality. Not in the writing, not in the acting. In ten years nobody will remember that Starfleet Academy was ever made, and people will still be posting five lights memes youtu.be/S9brF-wlja8?si…
