@bpdwonbin it sounds like all they got there was your IP, since 'what city' is all it tells someone if they were super determined they could've bought data from your ISP to identify you personally from your IP, but that's too expensive and hard to get for most random assholes thankfully

i wanna know this too because someone on ao3 once found the city i lived in and i had absolutely nothing tied to my personal information on fuckass ao3 nor did i ever click any links... and it still bothers me til this day

@refractivewave crazy enough it wasnt, it was a completely random user and page that wasn't connected to anything which is why im still SO confused. it wasnt even just an ip, it was specifically my city😭

@bpdwonbin if your ao3 was connected to a profile on another site in any way (similar username, linking a fic, etc), they could've bought info from data brokers. most websites sell tooons of info on their users including IP
