Hey Christine, I can answer that. Dominating Iran would be a cakewalk. A few thousand casualties on our side vs. hundreds of thousands on theirs. Not turning it into Afghanistan is also easy. All it requires is our military leaders accepting those high casualty numbers. That’s how we won two world wars. Now before you get upset, know this: I’m not talking about war crimes. I am only talking about accepting a very high number of enemy combatant casualties along with an unfortunate but necessary number of civilians caught in the crossfire. That’s all we need. And high casualty numbers are not a war crime. Death and destruction are allowed under the Geneva Conventions. Just not certain types of death and destruction, like chemical weapons. But winning this way is not going to happen, Christiane, because moving enough tanks and artillery to do that requires a massive sealift operation, and I don’t see any massive cargo ships getting loaded. So yes, the military types are right. We absolutely, positively can dominate Iran. The problem is no politician has removed the handcuffs from our military (called ROEs, Rules of Engagement) since General MacArthur was fired by President Truman for explaining to him exactly what I’m explaining to you right now. Massive sealift of heavy bombs and Army munitions PLUS an order to put as many warheads on enemy foreheads as possible. Dead men do not fight back. Taliban using children as shields and ROEs that only let us kill them at certain times in certain specific situations with a preponderance of evidence… they do shoot back. I don’t see Trump doing that, fighting a traditional war with ROEs that allow us to kill huge numbers of IRGC. But I also don’t see him sending large numbers of boots inland with crazy restrictive ROEs either. The end is likely going to be Option C. What is Option C? I don’t know. Option C is classified.
Christine Guerrero@SheDrills

Smart military types I’ve talked to are all confident that the US can dominate Iran. After they pound their chests I ask “Yes, but how long will that take? How does this not turn into Afghanistan?”…that’s when they pause and respond “I don’t know”…and therein lies the rub. #OOTT #IranWar

What a silly take. The criminal charges are defined by Florida law. They are all misdemeanors. His license will almost certainly be suspended for at least a year. I called an actual FL criminal defense lawyer to confirm the facts. Not complicated. mediaite.com/media/news/bre…

Tafoya: There probably aren't going to be severe charges, certainly not felony charges. Golf needs this guy. Everyone that is involved with him from a commercial standpoint needs and wants Tiger Woods.

Every Ukrainian attack on Russian oil infrastructure drives up oil and gas prices and helps Iran against the U.S. — and the U.S. is providing the weapons to Ukraine to attack Russian oil infrastructure which helps Iran. IOW: We are spending our own tax dollars to drive up oil prices that will fund Iran’s war effort. Sorry to repeat myself but I feel like people aren’t getting it.

Reports about Ukrainian drone strikes on the Yaroslavl oil refinery located in western Russia. A fire broke out at the facility as a result of the attack. The refinery is situated over 700km from the border with Ukraine.

TL;DR: For a journalist, IMHO, think of your chatbot as a combination of an intern, a first-pass editor, and a fact-checker. It's job is to do grunt work and help you turn in cleaner copy, not to "inspire" you.

I use AI to do research (i.e., find things to read, explain parts of academic papers I find ambiguous or confusing), transcribe interviews, generate pushback on my column thesis, suggest trims when I'm over my word count, sharpen podcast interview questions, and perform a final fact check on columns and editorials. But mostly it's compressing the ancillary tasks to the main job: reading, thinking, and writing.

This is literally what my students say when they get busted using AI. “I didn’t use it to write my paper just for brainstorming, outlining, and editing.” Yeah that’s most of what writing is.

Absolute humiliation for the US Navy. An Indian General confirms the multi-billion dollar USS Gerald R. Ford supercarrier is completely out of action and limping back home. 70 advanced fighter jets and AWACS are entirely gone from the combat zone. Total strategic disaster.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
By publishing this explicitly false story, the @FT has officially become tabloid trash for market participants. Despite my direct, on-the-record denial of ever having advocated, explored, or espoused the idea that Chancellor-Bank of England statute serving as a prototype for a Treasury-Federal Reserve relationship, FT journalists manufactured a story with the headline, “Scott Bessent praised Bank of England as model for tighter oversight of the Federal Reserve.” These pathetic journalists have clearly fabricated a story to give the impression that both I and the Trump Administration are setting “about restructuring the relationship… at a time when President Donald Trump has launched an unprecedented assault on the world’s most important central bank.” Their mendacious assertion is based on vague statements from unnamed “financial industry executives familiar with the matter.” In short, FT has literally manufactured an entirely fake policy position for me and the Administration. Other than furthering a maliciously false narrative of dysfunction and divisiveness, it baffles the mind as to why they would shred their already diminished journalistic credibility. Over the past 10 years, I have written more than 20,000 words opining on the Federal Reserve decisions, personnel, structure, and modifications. Nowhere have I ever mentioned this ridiculous notion. The Governor’s letters to the Chancellor have proven to be a useless and perfunctory device. There is much to be said about the storied Bank of England, but any recreation of its operating framework on this side of the Atlantic has never been contemplated. The shameful journalists and editors at the FT are shocking in their meretriciousness, lack of standards, and general intellectual libertinism. It is the worst tradition of Fleet Street to manufacture news rather than report on it. They have brought irredeemable shame to their parent organization, Nikkei Inc., with whom I had previously held excellent relations. In 2025, I laid out a comprehensive 6,000+ word review of each and every policy reform that I believe should be adopted by the Federal Reserve.
