Just given #julialang a go for the first time to test out the performance in comparison to #RStats when running 100 (hot) simulations of the upcoming NRL/AFL seasons. Julia 8.0 secs v R 12.7 secs Julia (with precompile) 6.3 secs v R (with compiler::cmpfun) 10.4 secs.
