When their form drops, they are still treated as if they're playing well. Poor coaches keep overplaying them, and eventually supporters direct their frustration at the player instead of the people making the decisions. In the end, the coach creates a situation where it looks like the fans hate the player, when in reality they're tired of seeing poor performances rewarded week after week.
