Comical if it wasn't so troubling: Sacha Ismail, who was long student organiser at Trot sect AWL, is now an officer for the Greens' trade union group. A private schoolboy who did PPE at Oxford: is this a good way to represent working-class people? gptu.greenparty.org.uk/about-us/peopl…

@redmetalgeek It's always something like that—there's always a story or a quote or a meaning or something, but it's never guessable unless you know it. "New Left Review" makes sense even without an explanation

@ConnorBrunniche We can work toward a movement/organisation that demands it while openly arguing that to achieve it would require a break with capitalism, at least at the European level, and that a bourgeois government cannot achieve it. That might sound impossible but I don't see another way.

@ConnorBrunniche Yes we can demand it, but that is different from trying to get a liberal party to adopt it as policy, as an aspiring government of the British state. Which as you admit, would likely lead to a coup and therefore surely demoralisation.

@ConnorBrunniche This seems better than arguing for something which you immediately admit, after my one question, isn't possible

@ConnorBrunniche If you want a communist organisation and programme, why not think about what plausibly could bring this about, however difficult and unlikely it is.

@ConnorBrunniche If even a mild programme would face enormous pressure from the forces of capital (and probably collapse the government), I don't really see how pushing the Greens to become His Majesty's Government and try any of this stuff is that helpful? Sounds like a recipe for demoralisation

@d4rt44 But tbh even the barest of redistributive social democratic programmes would face enormous pressure from the forces of capital if it’s the left and the working classes who are the ones trying to implement it. So we might as well be doing blue sky thinking here
