@ngrilly Dataplicity agent source code is published on GitHub (github.com/wildfoundry/da…). While this was originally done to protect our users, it also helps them plug dataplicity into highly customised systems.

What about you @dataplicity? Is your agent running locally on the device open source?

I'm amazed security by obscurity is still a thing in 2020... A company providing a service to remotely manage #IoT devices just told me the agent running on each device "is not #opensource for security reasons". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_…

So let me get this right, Dataplicity is a "curl ${URL} | sudo python" installer, so that means they get root access to every single Raspberry Pi (etc) that uses them (to provide you with ssh via a web interface)? That must make them a nice target for black hats..
