Iran has announced plans to completely block the Strait of Hormuz, with allies also closing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Document exchanges through intermediaries have also ceased.
This at least proves that Iran is truly no longer afraid of the United States, and all of President Trump's threats have become ineffective. To regain sufficient pressure, the US would need another massive, full-scale attack; a few surgical bombings are simply useless. And President Trump is unlikely to make a firm decision to return to war.
President Trump is now caught in a dilemma. As Trump himself has said, he faces repeated pressure within the US to "move faster, move slower, go to war, not go to war, or whatever," which puts him in a much tougher position.
In my opinion, it's best to reach a compromise with Iran sooner rather than later. The Democrats and CNN's fuss will eventually subside. Dragging it out will only escalate Iran's actions.
