NEW | Israeli Chemical Spraying Across Borders: A Growing Ecocide in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria Israeli occupation forces have escalated their aerial chemical spraying campaigns, targeting farmland and grazing lands across Gaza, southern Lebanon, and southern Syria’s Quneitra region. In Quneitra, over 65 kilometers of border farmland were hit in January 2026, destroying around 3,500 dunams of grazing land, hundreds of dunams of winter crops, and dozens of olive groves. Similar spraying in southern Lebanon used glyphosate at dangerous levels, causing soil infertility and threatening food security. Gaza farmers have faced recurring herbicide attacks since 2014, leaving thousands of dunams ruined. Visible damage to crops, livestock, and grazing areas is clear, and the chemical composition remains largely unknown. Families relying on agriculture for survival have suffered severe economic and food losses, with reports of illness among humans and animals exposed. Human rights groups warn that these systematic attacks on essential civilian resources may amount to ecocide and serious violations of international law.

Iran is committed to peace and stability in the region. Recent negotiations involved the exchange of practical proposals and yielded encouraging signals. However, we continue to closely monitor U.S. actions and have made all necessary preparations for any potential scenario.
