So much of working in content is embracing the fact that you don’t know and lobbying for getting the time to figure it out. I love that.

@afhill @supergovernance Oh yes! That's what keeps me awake at night 😆 The translation is not necessarily a bad starting point, but it should be more often considered as such: a starting point. I know @clearerworld has similar thoughts on this!

This! Amazing work for designing bilingual content. I always talk about how such a feedback loop helps improve both languages. So happy to see this 😍

@clearerworld Yess! Such a good blog post. I read it a while back and was really happy to find similar findings. I even quoted you recently for how you describe similarly the process, "using the translation as a starting point" 🙌🏻😊

Yes! It's far from being the work of a single person! @peripherlvision helped a lot move the vision forward as lead content designer. As well as @KeithEmmerson with who @BrazeauAnik and I started diving more deeply into the challenges of bilingual content design 2 years ago 🙌🏻
CommuniKate@peripherlvision

Such a great thread! @eliseco7 and @BrazeauAnik have done fantastic work over the last couple years to create ways of working that enable truly equitable content experiences in both official languages. Such great work!

📣 Calling all content folks. Do you know any bilingual content designers? My former colleague @_RhiannonLawson would like to chat to someone about creating content in 2 languages - not just translating from one to the other #contentdesign #content #govcontent

@clearerworld @quidampepin @tomomiq Un peu en lien avec l'insécurité linguistique; je me demande si demander "do you understand French" au lieu de "do you speak French" serait à explorer pour favoriser les conversations bilingues (anglo parle anglais, franco parle français). Moins performatif, moins de pression?

‘When teams have a dominant language that isn’t native or non-native to all of its members, we need deliberate structures to embrace that language diversity.’ Surely applies to the Canadian gov., with its English/French bilingual workplaces Any thoughts, @quidampepin @eliseco7

Yes! So glad that @joepairman shows how a passive-voice verb can help a paragraph flow, thanks to the ‘given-new’ principle. Passive voice isn’t always bad. Let’s learn more about how it works, instead of just banishing it. #PlainLanguage #ClearCommunication

"Kill your darlings", they say about writing. Well, I didn't kill mine in this piece and, reading them 18 months later, I still quite like them. And the style guides still rile me. blog.joepairman.com/2020/05/17/the…
