My take: If Ian Flynn is pushing this, he should stop. If (as I suspect) this is coming from above, Sega should stop. Reconsider what fans like about Amy, and importantly, you cant downplay aspects of her character without even giving her anything fun & new to do in the games.

@nuckles87 The emotion in the artwork just needed to be pulled back a bit. To be honest I'm surprised Sega allowed this much. Not that I'm upset with Sega loosening the reins a bit but this one could have used a few notes.

Whether I like it or not, there are indeed certain emotions that game Sonic *can't* really show, and these panels get really close to that so I at least understand why Sonic fans have an issue with it.

I'm gonna repeat something I said a few days ago: It feels like the artist was going for "tired," but that the art instead conveys something closer to panic/desperation, and I suspect the panels would get *less* pushback if no emotion was conveyed. Not none, but less.

my biggest issue with Sonic's doubt in IDW 23 is how the art conveys his emotions and less of the writing his expressions and body language paint his moments of doubt and pressure as him being wimpy and scared which is completely OOC for Sonic

This is a good example of legit criticism. I agree Sonic is drawn a bit TOO emotional here. I feel it could be pulled back a bit and still convey the same feelings of exhaustion and worry. Writing and dialogue is still good.

@dano_cosmic I feel Marvel needs a shake up. They really could have put the Ultimate universe up against Absolute but I feel the editors are more interested in movie synergy than telling good stories. Also I don't think they are confident in balancing two universes.

@dano_cosmic And DC has also been doing the gimmick thing too. They did blind bags for both DC KO #1 and the relaunch of Batman #1 but its crazy to see how well the Absolute Universe is selling without sacrificing their main universe of comics as well.
