Ten years ago today I got a phone call from @lynnemalcolm asking if I'd like a job with the ABC Science Unit. I left my job in research and started working as a science journalist soon after. Feeling very grateful for the career I've grown into, looking forward to the next ten.

@GillOshaughness I packed the wrong items...including an alarm clock. Turns out would have been better to pack food and warm clothes, which I realised after about half an hour.

Who else had ambitious plans to run away from home as v small child after mum refused a biscuit or the like, only to find themselves foiled by an unexpected setback? Mine was my suitcase lacked wheels, was as big as I was & I cldn't carry it past the veranda.
