Chinese Grammar Made Easy 又 (yòu) vs. 再 (zài) Both mean "again," but are used differently: 1. 又 (yòu) — “Again” (Past or Repeated Action) Used for actions that have already happened or happen repeatedly. 他又迟到了。 (Tā yòu chídào le.) → He’s late again. 我又看了那部电影。 (Wǒ yòu kàn le nà bù diànyǐng.) → I watched that movie again. 2. 再 (zài) — “Again” (Future Action) Used when referring to actions that will happen again in the future. 我明天再去。 (Wǒ míngtiān zài qù.) → I’ll go again tomorrow. 再给我一点时间。 (Zài gěi wǒ yīdiǎn shíjiān.) → Give me a little more time. 💡 Quick Tip: Use 又 for things that have already happened or happen repeatedly.
