as an animator i can't stress enough how important it is to take breaks and do activities that DON'T involve drawing
read a book, watch a movie, play a game, learn how to knitt. you'd be surprised how quickly your creative juices get replenished by just enjoying yourselves

That sense of “I’m weak & a failure for not being able to stay on the job” is looming still
But my sister assured me
This time she’ll cover for me
So I guess I’m now a fulltime artist who receives almost zero (well, I have 1 commission months ago!) income

My sister managed to find a job after her degree in other city. After one month of staying in fam house, I joined her & managed to find a work at the same city too.
I thought things would be better that I worked in a religious orgz this time, as part of their publishing team

I’ve been working in “real job” back to back, from 10s to 30s, job hopping from 1 to other, even trying different fields
I thought I was weak that I couldn’t just suck it up & stay working
This feels very comforting

Let’s talk about getting a traditional job as a vtuber/content creator.
I’ve been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Depression. I worked traditional jobs from the age of 16-27. I’ve been blessed with the ability to work from home as a Freelance VTuber Talent Manager for roughly 1 year.
Can I physically work traditional jobs? Yes. There’s nothing physically stopping me from clocking in, doing my job, clocking out, and going home. With that being said, I ask you to think about disabilities outside of physical limitations.
While I worked traditional jobs from 16-27, what my jobs didn’t see was the effect it had on me and my mental health. How much they contributed to my mental illnesses. How much it felt like I was dying on the inside. How often the thought of ending it all crossed my mind just so I wouldn’t have to go back to work the next day. I was dying, but on the outside, I seemed completely fine.
For the first time in my life, I’m working a job that doesn’t ask me to sacrifice my health to do it. Do I have everything I want in life? Not even close. I rely on support from my family to live and eat. But my bills are paid. I’m healthier and happier than I’ve ever been.
Are there people out there abusing support they get from others? Maybe. None that I’m personally aware of, but that doesn’t discount the possibility. However, even if there are people out there doing so, they don’t negate the real needs of people who aren’t able to work a traditional job.
If you’re a vtuber, content creator, manager, artist, writer, designer, etc., and your health prevents you from working a traditional job, I see you. I see your struggles, and I see your efforts. I know it’s much easier said than done, but please don’t let bad faith actors on twitter stop you from pursuing what’s best for your health.

There is a WEIRD amount of discourse in the VTuber world revolving around "getting a real job" and quite frankly I believe anyone who has such a harsh one-sided stance on this hasn't lived and experienced enough to have a trustworthy opinion. Go get yourself fired and see how it feels and "easy" it is to find a replacement in the current market. I dare you. Many enter VTubing BECAUSE something rightfully holds them back from working a traditional (shitty) day job. Many people ARE working day jobs in additional to running their channels but guess what...this shit is expensive and you lose audiences without shiny updates and fancy new keys to jingle around. It is a LOT to keep up with for even the most successful VTubers. I have no doubt there are those who abuse the funds they have coming in but if you discover that, stop supporting THAT person and don't take it out on the thousands of other streamers out there who are genuinely fighting for every dollar they get. Maybe take the time to learn more about people before assuming they are lazy, entitled, or whatever derogatory word you just learned this week.
