Canceled Rutgers speaker @RamiElghandour: "For two and a half years, I've gone to sleep and woken up looking at images of massacred children…And then to have this country and its leadership constantly criminalize the victims from speaking up…what kind of world are we building?"
Prem Thakker@prem_thakker

NEW: Months ago, Rami Elghandour (biotech CEO & "The Voice of Hind Rajab" EP) was invited to give a Rutgers grad speech. It's now canceled. Because some students complained about his posts. He takes us inside the cancelation in his first video interview:youtube.com/watch?v=CJryez…

I like that building high speed rail in California requires nine thousand years of environmental impact studies but throwing up a data center the size of Texas takes fourteen seconds with zero material public support.

Thomas Massie just exposed the power of the Israeli lobby. 'I won my last three primaries by 75%, 76%, and 81%. Now I'm up by one point. Outside money is pouring in against me from billionaire donors tied to the Israeli lobby: Miriam Adelson, Paul Singer, John Paulson. They're trying to crush me for putting America first'

Around 8,000 bodies are still believed buried in the Gaza rubble. There's one working excavator for bodies and no DNA testing available in the territory. Another powerful story by NPR's Anas Baba. npr.org/2026/05/06/nx-…

Near the end of his life, after breaking from the Nation of Islam and travelling through Africa and the Arab world, Malcolm X said capitalism needs a hierarchy of human worth to function. Someone to underpay, someone to displace, someone to extract from. Without that hierarchy, the system cannot sustain itself. The same arrangement holds today. Congolese children mine cobalt for the batteries in phones sold by men worth hundreds of billions. Bangladeshi women stitch garments in factories that collapse on them so a shirt can be sold for five pounds in a London high street. In Palestine, an entire economy of weapons contracts, surveillance technology, and Western political cover rests on the ongoing dispossession of a people. The faces change while the logic stays the same. Notice also who gets treated as a threat for naming any of this. Organisers working for housing, healthcare, and a living wage are dismissed as radicals, while the people hoarding the wealth are given magazine covers and seats at every table that matters. Malcolm understood that anti-racism without an economic analysis leaves the system intact. May Allah allow us to honour the legacy of brother Malcolm X and continue his work in the face of capitalist oppression.

If you’ve ever read to a young child, most anything other than contemporary slop (Mrs piggle wiggle, E Nesbit, Narnia, even frog and toad) you will find they encounter words and ideas on nearly every page that they are unfamiliar with. They will deduce some of it, they will ask you to explain much too, and in this way they acquire a deep and rich vocabulary and language that they would not come by through simple verbal communication. But we can watch the opposite happen in real time too; children who are never read to, adults who also do not read, are lacking this depth, not just of language, but of thought. It is a death, a death of something vital that I think links to our souls, to the very essence of what makes us human.
Boze Herrington, Library Owl 😴🧙‍♀️@SketchesbyBoze

“Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it ... By the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now.” — George Orwell, 1984

A doctor held in a torture dungeon. An affront to humanity. Israel must be compelled to release him and all other detained Palestinian medical workers @HFalconerMP
Drop Site@DropSiteNews

🚨New Testimonies Reveal Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya Stripped, Beaten, and Set Upon by Dogs in Israeli Detention Three recently released Palestinian prisoners have provided harrowing testimony about the condition of Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, who has been held in Israeli detention since his arrest on December 27, 2024. Released prisoner Ahmad Qaddas said he initially did not recognize Abu Safiya due to his physical deterioration. He described the doctor spending most of his time “sitting in a daze,” barely able to speak, while fellow prisoners could hear him screaming during beatings but were powerless to intervene — with those who tried to help facing tear gas raids. A second witness, Hamza Abu Omeira, said Abu Safiya suffered constant vomiting, could not keep food down, and was denied medical care. He described seven consecutive days during which prisoners were shackled by both hands and feet. He said Abu Safiya was also reportedly forced to repeat degrading phrases about himself under torture. A third released prisoner said he witnessed Abu Safiya being stripped, beaten after interrogation, and attacked by police dogs that “scratched him and knocked him to the ground.” All three witnesses warned he faces imminent death if not released immediately. Abu Safiya is one of 737 medical workers arrested by Israel since the start of the war, according to Al Jazeera. Source: Palestinian Information Center

When you hear all the sob stories about decent, hard-working Labour councillors losing their seats. Remember, they are representatives of a party complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people, willing to strip you of your civil liberties to stop anyone opposing it.

So Iran has now expanded the "Strait of Hormuz" zone beyond Fujairah - the UAE's pipeline exit that was supposed to bypass Iranian control. The UAE built that pipeline specifically to avoid Iranian choke points. Now Iran just... moved the choke point. The US tried to "secure global energy routes." Now Iran controls more of them. The UAE's backup plan is now inside the danger zone. And American warships are getting hit while the administration denies it.

So, the big election theme: Polanski - self-evidently a decent, well-intentioned guy opposed to billionaire control, war, genocide and climate collapse - is really, really controversial. Farage? Nothing. Our corporate media really is that sick. Quite amazing. And they know perfectly well that their criticism of Polanski helps Farage.

⚡️🎥 “Israeli wars don’t come to an end.” As talks of a potential deal between the U.S. and Iran continue to circulate this week, Drop Site’s @JeremyScahill says there should be no expectation that Israel’s wars across the region are nearing an end. He argued that while Israel succeeded in getting the U.S. to wage a massive bombing campaign against Iran, it failed to achieve its goals of destroying the Iranian government and eliminating Tehran’s deterrent capacity. Scahill says the U.S. not only can’t restrain Israel’s broader expansionist “Greater Israel” project, but wouldn’t even if it could — arguing that many American politicians support its regional military conquests.

For nearly six decades the U.S. has voluntarily remained in the dark on Israel's nuclear capabilities. The ambiguity ends now. There is too much at stake to accept ignorance. We are at war alongside Israel against Iran without knowing what their red lines are for using a nuclear weapon. I led a group of 30 lawmakers to demand an end to the ambiguity.
