Clearly, transition did not solve the problem. This is exactly the point. Gender identities are avatars that people create as a psychic escape from some other problem. They think it will help, but after transitioning realize that the cause of their unhappiness remains. It’s better to undergo psychotherapy and get at the root cause than to create a useless avatar.
