The language barrier in Haiti's court system, exposed by journalist Wendy Phele, creates a major human rights problem that denies people a fair trial. While 100% of Haitians speak the Haitian language, only about 5% to 10% speak French. This means the vast majority of people are completely left out of their own legal cases. This setup practically guarantees an unfair trial. Defendants sit in court unable to understand the witnesses testifying against them, defend their own innocence, or follow what the judge and lawyers are saying. Worst of all, it traps people into signing legal papers, confessions, and agreements that they cannot even read or understand. This problem shows how far behind Haiti is compared to other places. For example, Wendy mentioned that in Canadian courts, officials ask you which language you want to use, English or French, to protect your rights. The Haitian government's failure to fix this shows a system that favors the rich and powerful. By forcing people to use an old colonial language they don't speak, the government keeps regular citizens powerless, uneducated, and legally helpless.

I know many of us didn’t agree with all of their policies, but one thing I can say is that they understood the responsibility that came with the office. They treated people like human beings, communicated with a level of respect, and didn’t feel the need to constantly demean others to make themselves look better. They also understood how to speak to the public. Whether you agreed with them or not, they could give a speech, stay on topic, articulate their message clearly, and conduct themselves in a manner that reflected the seriousness of the presidency. Leadership isn’t about insults, personal attacks, or turning every disagreement into a spectacle. It’s about respect, discipline, and the ability to communicate effectively with the people you’re supposed to serve. You don’t have to agree with someone’s politics to recognize the difference between leadership and chaos.

Fuck this dude. Autism doesn't mean you become a vegetable. You can do anything you set your mind to - even if it means you need more help or resources to get there, you CAN succeed. Don't let this ex-junkie make you feel worthless. I promise you bring more worth than he does
