Ohio train disaster is an eco-horror caused by corporate abuse. Norfolk Southern detonated the fireball below to "dispose" of cancer-causing chemicals because it was cheaper and the rails could open faster. They "nuked" a small town for profit. instagram.com/p/CoqqnUHOEvh/

The pandemic is not over. It's much worse than you've been led to believe. And unless you've spent the past several years reading scientific studies on the subject, it can be hard to convey just how wrong the public perception of COVID really is. unity-struggle-unity.org/clarion/let-th…

No viable path left to 1.5C. From today’s White House briefing: “Under President Biden, oil and natural gas production has increased, and we are on track to hit the highest production in our country’s history next year.” Utterly tragic for the Earth and our future. Words fail.

Rich people flying private jets to UN talks sponsored by Coca Cola that give the fossil fuel industry a huge seat at the table while criminalizing climate activists is NOT the way to stop irreversible catastrophic fossil-fueled global heating. #COP27

Rest in peace to researcher, historian, writer, and comrade Mike Davis. May we honor him by holding a critical eye to the overlapping systems of violence, hostility, and power in Los Angeles and keeping up the fight for abolitionist, socialist futures.

🧵Some personal news: I’m taking a 6-month sabbatical, starting now. These past 3 years have been the most professionally meaningful of my life, but they’ve also deeply broken me. The pandemic isn’t over, but after a long time spent staring into the sun, I need to blink. 1/

And this final pandemic piece is a distilled shot of the argument I’ve been brewing for 3 yrs. This has been soul-crushing work. We constantly forfeited the chance to do better. But that chance still exists, and we can’t afford the luxury of nihilism. 6/ theatlantic.com/health/archive…

Look at how the @MTA signs for masking on public transport have changed. The MTA is now appeasing anti-maskers and spreading public health misinformation that confuses people who still want to mask.

Got a request: I've seen a BNPL ad, maybe on a bus stop, that was like "Now you never have to say no to sides when ordering dinner." But I can't remember which company. Does anybody have a picture of the ad?

Promoting the con that affluent people's security depends on locking up and punishing poor people instead of working to make a society where people aren't poor and can get the care they need is the real crime.

I want to say this clearly: if Democrats try to be a "law and order" party, they will lose. Fascists will always do "law and order" better. The only path to Democrats getting power is to be the party that addresses the root causes of violence by giving people what they need.
