@buperac I am not a native speaker of English, but is there a chance that the words "confidence" and "incompetence" sound somewhat comparable for a reason?
So you mean to tell me, an airplane can go right through the World Trade Center that had steel structure beams of 4 inch plate every 40” using 12 different grades of steel with a yield strength of 100,000 psi but if the same plane were to run into a firetruck on a runway the plane is completely destroyed.
Got it!
@Acyn Is there no end to the wonder- and meaningful things this man achieves for the US, the planet, and the universe. Americans, are you tired of winning, yet?
Trump: I have much more power in my second term. I said I'm going to sign an executive order to ensure that the second Saturday in December, is preserved exclusively, nobody is playing football. Not Ohio state against Notre Dame. Not LSU against Alabama. Nobody is going to play football for four hours during that very special time of the year in December. It's preserved forever for the army-navy game. If you don't want to watch football, you don't have to. But if you want to watch football, you are only watching one game. You are not watching 19 different games.
@Mollyploofkins@ShawnMcCreesh What puzzles me to no end: He tells blatant lies like this on a regular basis and it's easy for people to check, because petrol is not below 2$/gallon to give a simple example. Why are his followers not leaving him? What has to happen so they do?
I've come to a realization.
Antivaxers actually don't know what mRNA is or how it works.
When you understand its structure and function, you understand how impossible some antivax claims are...
@brianmolyvade@BonkDaCarnivore The majority of consumers apparently beg to differ: They happily bought shelves at 90 when they were available, that's why the American producer had a hard time before.
@BonkDaCarnivore nobody seems to understand that a rising tide lifts all boats. if shelves are now $200, all that extra money stays in this economy. The workers take that money and spend it at your businesses. It’s all relative. You don’t want to pay $90 when all of that money is going to China.
"Our company was selling shelves for $200. Our competition was selling for $90 and we were getting killed. Thanks to your tariffs, now everybody's shelves are $200. Game changer for us, thank you Mr. President" isn't the flex Trump thinks it is.
Also, I'll bet a shiny nickel that by the time you read this post, the SC will have ruled AGAINST the tariffs (little birdie). They'll probably chicken out on ruling on whether companies can get the money back that he illegally stole, however.
Sorry to all of you who are now only going to have to pay $90 for shelves again. I know how much you liked paying $200 in the Golden Age.
I'd go further; the majority of the best STEM people I've met had a longstanding interest in the humanities and were more than competent at thinking about issues in philosophy or history, whereas most of the pure humanities folks I've met were proudly ignorant of even rudimentary science.
@LincolnSquareHQ All correct, all irrelevant, because his voters don't seem to care one bit. What they care about is a mystery to me, but decency, honesty, fairness, politeness, knowledge, intelligence, and integrity it is not. So, complaining about him not having any of that is a waste of time.
This year, my goal is to finally visit my last two German states on my bucket-list. I made it a goal to visit every single German state. I only have two left. I have done this in two years. I told myself that as a guest of Germany, I should visit all of Germany. My favorite place
@jsm2334@MeghanEMurphy Antivaxxers frequently engage in binary thinking. If a vaccine isn't 100% effective in preventing illness, to them it's "doesn't work." If it doesn't stop transmission 100% of the time, it "doesn't stop transmission." It's weaponizing a lack of understanding of probability.
That penguin tweet wasn’t a joke.
It hijacked attention.
Turned timelines into noise.
Triggered culture-war reflexes.
While everyone argues about penguins, nobody asks harder questions. Power goes unchecked.
That’s the point.
Distraction works best when it feels ridiculous.
Trump on Switzerland: And the I guess prime minister called—a woman and she was very repetitive. She said, no, no, no…. She said, no, no, no, please, you cannot do it. Kept saying the same thing over and over. And she just rubbed me the wrong way.
