Awesome day in Hamilton with local MPs Tama Potaka and Ryan Hamilton. Sat down with business and community groups to talk growth, jobs, and how we back the region to go further, faster. Honoured to join the opening of the new Sikh Society Hamilton Temple too – a special milestone for the Sikh community here especially given Vaisakhi celebrations earlier this week. Also spent time chatting with rural folk, talking about the benefits of the Indian free trade agreement. This deal will open new markets for Kiwi businesses, back our rural sector, grow jobs and lift incomes.

No government has built viable power generation infrastructure in NZ for over 40years. So with no increase in capacity, when the inevitable power crisis comes, who do you think the government will prioritise for power supply? Because it won’t be you getting priority.

Why won't #National show Labour the full terms and conditions of the Indian FTA? How can they honestly expect #Labour to vote for this without first seeing the detail? Details matter. National and NZ First are performative dancing monkeys, expecting Labour to fall into line.

NZ$33b to be given to India for our trade agreement with them. Is this a bribe to secure the FTA? What do we get back from India that's worth $33b+? Why the lack of transparency? It's like a salesman telling an unwitting customer to buy without having access to the smallprint.

Whanganui District Council told everyone their rebrand only cost $61,800. They lied. The new logo design and rebrand actually costed ratepayers $116,899 – nearly double what they claimed. The new costs include: $33K to a brand advisor and $10K to a toi Māori arts advisor... Where was the call for advice from the public who funded this? Follow for more transparency in local government.

You may have missed this. I did. I want to put a bit of time into it because it's important. Remember how Winston made it a part of NZ First's coalition agreement with Luxon to remove Treaty references from law? References to the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in Legislation, as It's offically called. It aims to either delete those references or replace them with more specific wording about how the Treaty applies in each law. There are at least 50 known Treaty clauses in legislation, with about 14 variations in their description of the Crown’s obligations as a Treaty partner. A Ministerial Oversight Group (ministers Paul Goldsmith, Judith Collins, Shane Jones, and Tama Potaka) oversees it. The Oversight Group (coalition ministers) sets the direction. They are assisted by a 4-member panel, so the panel advises rather than decides. The panel is made up of David Cochrane, Marama Royal, John Walters and James Christmas. A detailed background for each will be in the comments. The review is ultimately the responsibility of Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith. The worst part about this whole thing is that the review was supposed to wrap up by August 2025, but has already overrun by many months and could easily extend past the election. It does not have to finish beforehand. It could drag on. If a Labour-led government is formed, the review could be slowed, paused, or reversed. This could be a disaster! NZ First campaigned on and was elected on this review. Why is it taking so long? Check out the panel members in the comments. Is this slowdown deliberate, in order to stop or limit the NZ First-initiated review? This is not what we expected, and not what we want! #nzpol

I just spoke to Nicola Willis from DC, where's she's meeting White House officials tomorrow. Willis is planning to: - Make clear how concerned NZ is about the conflict - Ask when US sees things returning to 'normal' - Raise the ramifications for the Pacific

Can someone explain why the FTA with India hinges around something as unrelated as immigration? Can someone explain why it seems almost nobody has read it and knows what’s in it?
