❤️ Special guest today at Memorial. Jayden - who’s 14 and defeating cancer - dropped off shoes he decorated for Coach Stackhouse to wear at tomorrow’s game vs. Kentucky. We have a special relationship with our friends at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The legacy of great teachers is not usually found in the lessons they taught their students… but in the relationships they built with their students.

Principals shape school culture… as do custodians, secretaries, counselors, teachers, bookkeepers, students, librarians, paraprofessionals, maintenance technicians, SROs, nurses, registrars, etc.

This is so true in academics too! 🙌

Girls Basketball tryouts for upcoming 7th and 8th grade girls will be on May 11th from 3:30-4:30pm in the Winfree Bryant gym. Please have your ride there to pick you up right at 4:30pm

We don’t need our teachers to be the most dynamic, the most innovative, or the most tech savvy. We need them to care about kids… work well with their colleagues… and come to work every day, excited about making a difference.

In a great classroom, the students aren’t the only learners. The TEACHER is a learner also. When teachers are curious, when they are vulnerable, when they continue to grow… they provide stronger instruction, and they provide a great example to their students.

Not all your students come to class wanting to learn… but they all come wanting to belong. And when they feel like they belong… they’re much more likely to learn.

Grit? What is it? I believe it’s driven by love. Inspired by vision and purpose. Fueled by optimism and belief. Powered by faith and hope. Revived by resilience. Kept alive by stubbornness. And if we’re honest includes some fear of failure and desire to prove oneself.
