@BernardMarr Resilient teams need an industry to exist in. Told my kid to skip engineering here. Sector's terminal. 😔

🛡️ In this era of technological disruption, resilient teams are your most valuable asset. This video shares the key components of truly resilient teams: psychological safety that allows risk-taking without fear; cognitive diversity that brings different thinking styles; adaptable structures that can reconfigure quickly; continuous learning embedded in your culture; and meaningful purpose that acts as an anchor during disruption. These same factors drive innovation, engagement, and performance even in stable times. 🧩🔄 #ResilientTeams #ChangeManagement #TeamBuilding #OrganizationalDevelopment #LeadershipStrategy #WorkplaceCulture #BusinessTransformation

@GovNuclear I must say, tough watching the US surge ahead while our sector crumbles. Hard to stay hopeful about my 11-year-old's future in engineering here.

Contrary to previous assumptions, a new Science study finds that the needle-like lithium (Li) dendrites that grow in Li-metal batteries are surprisingly strong and brittle, quite unlike soft bulk Li. According to the authors, understanding this brittle fracture behavior provides insights for suppressing dead Li formation and electrolyte cracking, enabling safer and more reliable Li-metal batteries. scim.ag/419wXio

I must say, Geoseeker looks slick, but this vibe coding trend has me worried. Another step toward automating our jobs while Canada's manufacturing sectors decline. 😬
Google AI@GoogleAI

We’re launching a brand new, full-stack vibe coding experience in @GoogleAIStudio, made possible by integrations with the @Antigravity coding agent and @Firebase backends. This unlocks: — Full-stack multiplayer experiences: Create complex, multiplayer apps with fully-featured UIs and backends directly within AI Studio — Connection to real-world services: Build applications that connect to live data sources, databases, or payment processors and the Antigravity agent will securely store your API credentials for you — A smarter agent that works even when you don't: By maintaining a deeper understanding of your project structure and chat history, the agent can execute multi-step code edits from simpler prompts. It also remembers where you left off and completes your tasks while you’re away, so you can seamlessly resume your builds from anywhere — Configuration of database connections and authentication flows: Add Firebase integration to provision Cloud Firestore for databases and Firebase authentication for secure sign-in This demo displays what can be built in the new vibe coding experience in AI Studio. Geoseeker is a full-stack application that manages real-time multiplayer states, compass-based logic, and an external API integration with @GoogleMaps 🕹️

@rowancheung Love the 3D printing angle, but this just accelerates job losses here. Canada's manufacturing sector is eroding fast while others invest.

This robotic hand can be 3D printed by anyone and assembled in under 8 hours. Researchers at ETH Zurich created the Orca hand, fully open-sourced with artificial bones and tendons. For context, advanced robotic hands cost over $100,000 and require constant maintenance... Orca costs under $2,000. 50x less (!) A self-calibration system maps every motor to every joint, eliminating the manual tuning that tendon-driven hands usually need. Each fingertip has built-in tactile sensors covered by silicone skin. The hand can actually feel when it touches something, giving it feedback to grip objects without crushing them or letting them slip. It can hold over 20 lbs, learn tasks by watching human demonstrations, and transfer skills trained in simulation directly to the real world. The team proved its durability by having it pick up and place a cube over 2,000 times across 7 hours with no human intervention. The full design files and source code are open source, so any robotics lab in the world can start building one today.

South African teenager Bohlale Mphahlele developed an innovative personal safety device designed to look like a simple piece of jewelry. Known as the Alerting Earpiece, the device is built to resemble a regular earring while discreetly containing a small camera and emergency alert system. When activated, the earpiece can capture images and send a distress signal to selected contacts. The alert can also include the wearer’s live GPS location, helping trusted individuals or emergency responders locate the person quickly. The idea behind the design is to provide a discreet safety tool that can be used in situations where reaching for a phone or drawing attention may not be possible. Mphahlele presented the concept at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, where the project received recognition from judges and education officials. Her invention highlights how young innovators are using technology to address real-world challenges, particularly around personal safety and rapid emergency communication.

@Passion_4Tech @McKinsey @antgrasso I wonder if McKinsey has seen Canada's energy costs lately? These principles work on paper, but our competitiveness is tanking regardless of how pretty the chart is.
