@LexG_III It’s amazingly incoherent. If the lady’s only ever watched the red carpet, then clearly the “wokism” of the movies hasn’t recently scared her off. He wants to position them as hearty salt-of-the-earth folks, then undercuts it by describing the young guy as a shark-eyed cipher.

@LexG_III Fair warning, it always puts me in a melancholy place, but I love it.

@PeteMitchell158 @LexG_III The Accountant 2 is kind of fascinating because you get to watch an intricate, concept-dense franchise slowly realize that it should just be a nice n' normal Affleck-Bernthal buddy cop series.
English

@LexG_III I love The Accountant 2 so much partly because of that scene alone. Watched it maybe 20 times last year.

@LexG_III Haha the first movie’s at 9 goddam AM the morning after a wedding? PTA’s all “It’s perfect, you’ll have time to grab a quick breakfast on the way!”

@LexG_III Now imagining Ace’s remake of A Christmas Carol where Scrooge gets jacked and makes zero amends.

@LexG_III This is irrelevant to the point of your story, but it never ceases to amaze me how you can instantly pull up the name of a semi- or totally-forgotten movie that’s concurrent with the time period you’re referencing.

@LexG_III Your Joy Of Sex commentaries from around this same time were some of my favorite pandemic viewing.

@LexG_III I remember a friend back in the 90s (after a run of movies where he was played by three different guys) saying Hollywood should establish a “designated Warhol.”
English

@LexG_III I distinctly remember the first time I heard a man call another man “bitch” was Ice-T to Wesley Snipes in New Jack City, so your timing checks out on my end.
English

@LexG_III Just watched this today (and loved it as always), and it occurred to me that it’s gotta be the ultimate example of what you talked about on one of your podcasts in terms of movies where at the end there’s absolutely no way the heroes could explain what happened to the cops.
English

@LexG_III It just seems like a terrible idea to remake a pulpy horror flick that doesn’t take itself too seriously as a broad comedy. Voight’s ‘97 performance is funnier than anything in that trailer.
English

@LexG_III I faintly remember this having insanely off-putting TV ads back in the day.
English

@LexG_III Off-topic but: all these years later, I had almost the exact same physical reaction you did to “and mushrooms were her bullets!”
English

@LexG_III That trailer is so baffling, it makes it look like the whole movie is comprised entirely of early takes where they were still figuring out the scene.
English

@LexG_III Back in the bygone days of taping sex scenes off late night HBO and Showtime onto a VHS, a buddy of mine labeled his particular compilation tape “Agnes Of God” because he figured that meant none of his roommates would ever watch it by accident.
