@GeminiApp does a lovely job of illustrating decodable passages. Before we begin word work, we label the images with skill specific words so that my MLs connect meaning to the words and build oracy first. #ELL2point0

1. Create a picture prompt. 2. Create a Google Sheets formula to assess student writing using the WIDA rubric & AI. 3: Give nearly 300 students fast & actionable feedback. 4: Give 6 ELD teachers prescriptive next steps for their students based on classroom trends. #ELL2point0

Using AIto give feedback in Google Sheets can be helpful in 2 ways. 1. Students get instant feedback based on a specific rubric (in this case, the WIDA writing rubric). 2. I can then look at all of the feedback & ask AI to give me actionable skills to teach next. #Ell2point0

I haven't used this with students yet, but I think it could be a great bellringer or closing activity.

Have you used Gemini in Google Sheets to give feedback? I've been playing with a picture prompt & feedback that align with the WIDA writing rubric to let students know their level (1-5) and how they can specifically improve. What do you think? #Ell2point0 bit.ly/ell2point0

Yes, I have chickens right outside my office window. 🐓 And my favorite time of day is when our students feed those sweet chickens. Pure joy. 🤩 #SenecaSoars

I'm obsessed w/ using @NotebookLM to create pre-reading infographics. Discussing these images recruits interest, activates background knowledge, develops schema, & introduces important vocabulary. (This is an infographic @NotebookLM created from my dissertation.) #Ell2point0
